Stuck on the mountain (SOTM) as we call it, was a project visioned by Tr. Thomas Elong, Jeanett Elong, Hans Kindhag, Andreas Unger, and Markus Dahlqvista who were stuck in Lukla for 5 days due to bad weather in 2016, during the RTIWM 2016, in Nepal. While they were there in Lukla and
having seen the educational conditions, they came up with the idea of building a school in some remote area of Nepal. They were ultimately flown back to Kathmandu in a chartered helicopter as there were no fights for 5 days due to heavy rain. Once back they expressed their thought of making a school in Nepal.

When they got back, they started collecting funds in their countries and send Round Table Nepal funds for the school project. We started looking for projects that were in need and we got a lead for a school in a very remote part of Nepal which is still very under developed, once reason being its remoteness. We planned a visit to the school and it definitely needed help. With over 400 students and only 7 classrooms out of which 4 were very old and could collapse any moment, the school needed help. and RTN also contributed to the project as the project value as very high due to the location of the school.

The school is located in Dadagaun, Nalgaad Naragpalika, Ward No. 2, Rija, Jajarkot, and is atop a hill. We planned to build a 8 classroom block. Construction started in late 2019, and construction was over in 2020, but due to the lockdown, the school wasn’t inaugurated. But now as things are normal we plan to inaugurate the school block on July 27, 2021.

RTI President Tr. D. K. Singh along with RTN President Tr. Saurabh Kedia, Tr. Rahul Agrawal, Tr. Jayant Agrawal, Tr. Ravi Khetan will be attending the glorious event as we set another benchmark for RTN completing this huge project in one of the remotest area of Nepal. The funds for this project was a cumulative effort of Tr. Thomas Elong, RTN, 41’ers International, Jason Thompson & Nepal Tables.
